Colorful MEXICO Linen Postcards

Mexico linen postcards in this post show tourist sites and invitations to tourists to come and visit our south of the border neighbor.  I am especially fond of old automobiles in linen postcards, which you can see by the postcards I have chosen here.  Our first view is of a favorite tourist spot, published by Curt Teich and postmarked 1948.  The sender says how much fun they have had on their trip.

Large Letter Greetings from postcards were popular outside the U.S. as well as inside.  Here is a classic Greetings from linen postcard with scenes of the area inside the letters of Juarez. 

This is the Commercial Hotel in Tijuana.  Tijuana is the first stop after crossing the border from the U.S. 

A bright linen that shows old automobiles and lots of great shop signs.  The caption on this busy scene says:  Main Street Tijuana B.C. Mexico before the Fire Disaster. 

Here is the bullfight arena, also in Tijuana.  This postcard was postmarked 1948.  Below, a special Greetings from postcard with a beautiful woman wearing a straw sombrero, a long skirt and a brightly colored woven blanket or serape.

Two poster-style travel postcards with art deco designs and brilliant colors invite tourists.  These were printed in Mexico by the Mexican Tourist Association.  On the back at the bottom of the message section is printed, P.S. When are you coming to Mexico?








PRICE ESTIMATES:  Linen postcards of Mexico are plentiful and not too expensive.  However, as with all good linen images, the prices are rising.  They currently range from about $4 - $8 with the travel posters sometimes costing as much as $10 - $12.  These estimates are for postcards in EXCELLENT condition, and they are only estimates.

Florida Bathing Beauty Linen Postcards

Florida is the Sunshine State and with our bountiful beaches, we have always celebrated the seaside experience.  My favorite expression of that celebration is the bathing beauties who appear smiling in swimsuits on colorful linen postcards.  Although there are other wonderful linen bathing beauty postcards that have no location indicated, all the postcards shown here have Florida in the caption.

Our opening image is published by Tichnor, and the above Land O' Sand image is published by Curt Teich.  Because these postcards date from the 1930s-1940s, the beauties are wearing two-piece bathing suits that modestly cover their navels, since bikinis that revealed belly buttons didn't appear on the fashion scene until later.

Even one-piece bathing suits make for alluring pin-ups as these postcards show...leapfrog ladies published by Tichnor, as is the lady and the alligator below.

This Curt Teich linen is from the Tropical Florida Series, F-198, and features a citrus center to this Florida Sunburst Blossom.
